KEB EMERGENCY COLLETS
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
In most cases, Emergency Collets are for temporary use when a
permanent collet is not available. Emergency collets are thru-
hardened for wear resistance yet soft enough to machine to your
custom needs. Emergency collets are available in standard
lengths or extended nose lengths. It is good practice to maintain
a small inventory of Emergency Collets for each machine to
safeguard against that inevitable crash.
PROCEDURE:
1. Order a permanent hardened replacement collet;
2. Place your Emergency Collet into your subspindle;
3. Place the 3 pins into the holes on the face/nose;
4. Apply pressure to close collet on the pins;
5. Drill and bore the collet to the required size.
*Please note that the pins are machine able if the pin location
diameter interferes with the finish bore size that you require.
CUSTOM EMERGENCY COLLETS:
Standard and Extended Nose Emergency Collets have a standard
pilot hole of 1/16" (.062). Custom pilot holes to your specification
are available as a special order. Standard Extended Nose Collets
have a straight nose. Taper nose Emergency Collets are also
available as a special order.
EMERGENCY GUIDE BUSHINGS:
Emergency Guide Bushings are constructed of Meehanite and are
available as a special order. The standard pilot hole is 1/16"
(.062).
